- Attach a copy of evidence of passing the NYS Liberal Arts and Science Teacher (LAST) exam.
There are several factors that affect a candidate’s eligibility to continue enrollment in the MAT Art Education program. A candidate must:
Maintain a minimum grade point average Be awarded Degree Candidacy Demonstrate adherence to the Code of Student’s Rights, Responsibilities and Conduct as described in the Student Handbook Acquire and maintain an acceptable level of professional performance in all field experiences
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction monitors a candidate’s performance and progress and will deny continuation in the program to any candidate whose level of performance and/or personal characteristics do not adequately meet academic or professional standards. Decisions with respect to retention or dismissal of a candidate are made by the Curriculum and Instruction faculty and staff and not by any one person.
I have read and understand the above statement regarding a candidate’s eligibility to continue in the graduate program and the responsibility of the Curriculum and Instruction Department to monitor a candidate’s eligibility. Further, I understand that to fulfill the requirements of the degree, I must successfully complete student teaching. This assignment must occur when schools are in session, September through May, during daytime hours. This will not be waived for any reason, as it is a programmatic requirement.
