Checklist

Welcome to SUNY Oswego! As a new student in the graduate program, we know that you have many questions. This orientation site aims to answer all of your questions. Also as  a new student, we recognize that there are many things that you still need to do before classes actually start. The following checklist has been provided to guide you:

Registration

Registration is done online through the MyOswego site. Login using your student ID number and pin, and fill out any required information. From the main menu, click on the "Registration" link, then "Graduate Degree Student Registration." Next, select the "Register - Add/Drop Classes" link and choose the term that you wish to register for. If you already know the Course Registration Numbers (CRN) of the classes that you want to register for, you can enter them into the provided boxes. Otherwise, click on the "Class Search" button and use the options to find classes. Once the search page is loaded, you can register for a class by checking the box next to it and click the "Register" button.

Books

The required textbooks for a class can be found in multiple ways: by clicking on the CRN of a course in the course lookup, by entering the class information into the online listing, or by waiting until you receive your syllabus on the first day of class. Some professors will also provide textbook information if you send a request by email.

There are also a few ways that you can buy your textbooks. SUNY Oswego offers an online prepack program through our College Bookstore, which will buy all your books and have them ready for you when you arrive on campus at the beginning of the semester. This saves a lot of hastle of finding them on your own. To prepack books, go to the same link  above and follow the prompts.

If you do not wish to prepack your books, you can go to the College Bookstore directly, to Kraftees, or see if they are available online.

Tuition

Tuition must be paid before the first day of classes. To pay tuition, log on to MyOswego and click on the "Student Account" link. Select the term, and the next page will allow you to pay your bill. This page also allows you to add money onto your student ID card for the bookstore, as well as for various food locations both on and off campus.

Immunizations

Students must be immunized for measles, mumps, and rubella, and documentation must be provided to the school. In addition, there are several recommended immunizations, which can be found here.

Housing

Off Campus

We recognize that most graduate students will want to live off campus. An off campus housing list is available at the Student Association website. Many locations are within walking distance of campus. For farther locations, busses run regularly to and from campus. A bus pass can be purchased at the Campus Center Box Office.

On Campus

If you would rather live on campus, there are several different locations to choose from. Lonis/Moreland complex offers single rooms, specifically aimed toward graduate students and others that need peace and quiet. If you are interested in living in an apartment-style setting with other people, but want the convenience of still being on campus, then the Village may be the option you're looking for. More information about on-campus housing can be found at the Residential Life and Housing website.

To live on campus, fill out the proper information under the "Student Housing" link on MyOswego.
