Faculty Assembly Minutes
September 8, 2003

 

Members Absent: J. LeFlore, G.Auleta, representative from Political Science

The meeting was called to order at 3:20 PM.

  1. Approval of Agenda
  2. The Agenda was approved unanimously.

  3. Approval of FA minutes for May 5, 2003
  4. These minutes were distributed at this meeting. They will be voted on at the next FA meeting on September 15, 2003.

  5. FA Chair’s Report — S. Camp
  6. S. Camp began by welcoming everyone to the first FA meeting of the semester.

    As the new Chair of Faculty Assembly, S. Camp asked assistance from everyone and to call or e-mail corrections directly to her. The new clerk, Jessica Godkin, will also correct any errors that are brought to her attention.

    Peggy Martin was appointed to the position of Assembly Parliamentarian.

    The Faculty Assembly Executive Board met last Friday and established agenda items for the first three meetings.

    The revised by-laws will be on the web as soon as errors that were found are corrected.

    The Location of FA has changed due to space issues.

    A General Faculty meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 20th at

    4 p.m.

    After today's meeting, S. Camp will attempt to start meetings at 3:00. She asked that members try to be on time.

    Any verbal report given to the Assembly should be followed up by a written copy to Jessica Godkin.

  7. Reports of Councils, Committees and Task Forces
  1. Priorities and Planning Committee is having a meeting on Friday, September 12th at 3:00. They will be discussing ways to make smaller classes for freshman affordable.
  2. Provost Search Committee met over the summer and they are setting up a web page and e-mail address for anyone to send comments and suggestions. They will meet again on the morning of September 9th and will report back to the Assembly.
  3. J. LaManna, representative to Student Association Senate resigned due to conflicts with classes.

  1. Election of Vice Chair of Faculty Assembly
  2. Joan Carroll was unanimously elected as the Faculty Assembly Vice Chair.
