D. King began by talking about the tragic terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11th, 2001 in New York City and Washington, DC. There was a vigil held last week that was attended by about 2, 500 students, faculty, and staff. President Stanley, President Barnhart, and D. King agreed to a proclamation on Thursday urging the campus to reflect on the events of last Tuesday during the National Day of Remembrance (see attached proclamation). A resolution supporting donations to aid the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks was voted on and approved unanimously by the Faculty Assembly (see attached resolution). Efforts are underway by students and staff on campus to raise funds for disaster relief and recovery for victims and their families.

The Fall Classic was curtailed due to the tragic events of last week, but the sponsors wanted to follow through with their financial commitments. The event raised more then $290,000 for student scholarships.

The SUNY Faculty Senate Fall Planning meeting will be held in Albany this weekend. D. King will be attending and will inform the Faculty Assembly of information regarding General Education Assessment, president review process, the budget, and updates from Chancellor King, Provost Salins and others.
