III. FA Chair's Report - D. King

D. King began by reminding the Faculty Assembly about the SUNY Faculty Senate Fall Plenary Meeting at SUNY Purchase October 17th - 19th.

The Oswego County Office of Emergency Management is discussing the distribution of potassium iodine (KI) pills (1 pill per person) to the campus. These pills can help prevent thyroid cancer in case of a nuclear plant accident. These pills are also available in drug stores; no prescription is necessary. The distribution plan will be announced campus wide.

The chairs or representatives from Academic Policies Council, Graduate Council, Undergraduate Curriculum Committee, Priorities and Planning Council, and Board of General Education will meet regularly as the new Academic Coordinating/Planning Committee to discuss mutual concerns. They will work to coordinate their action or responses to issues. Joyce Smith called the first meeting of this new committee for October 14th.

PPC will hopefully have revised Faculty Bylaw amendments to hand out in two weeks on Articles XXIV (Proposed Academic Outreach Council), XXVI (Proposed Academic Support Council), and Article XXI (Proposed Undergraduate Curriculum Council), for action by Faculty Assembly. If possible, there will be a General Faculty Meeting in late November to wrap up action on articles dealing with Councils.

The Faculty Assembly website is being updated regularly with Assembly information, and is also being structured for improved efficiency and accessibility to current information such as membership, lists of councils, agenda and minutes, plus an electronic archive of minutes and agenda for recent years

.
