II.    FA Chair’s Report – S. Camp

Susan reported: Thanks to Bob Cole for bringing the FAEB to consider how we determine the agenda for Faculty Assembly meetings.  As you might know, we (faculty assembly executive board) have worked to organize our agenda so that issues that are time sensitive are dealt with early and those, where more discussion is believed to be needed, may be seem to drag out.  I don’t believe that power is in my thoughts as I think about what the agenda should look like.  I am urging more conversation with FA reps and their department colleagues.  Please suggest ways that this can happen, such as an extended list-serve to distribute proposals or all proposals from councils coming both in hard copy and digital (for easy distribution).

SPAB—has been constituted and at least 9 faculty will be on the Board.  The President will tell us more about it at the General Faculty meeting.

Writing Across the Curriculum Task Force—Has been approved by the President with proposed membership (based on discussion with Gen Ed Council and Rhonda Mandel etc).  Leigh Bacher has agreed to convene the TF.

We will elect a new SUNY Oswego Senator and alternate (up to 2, 3-year terms) today at the general faculty meeting.

Elect departmental FA reps and alternates ASAP (report results to me at susanc@oswego.edu). Canvas colleagues to serve on councils next year.  With a full slate of nominees and the CLICKERS we can have elections completed in 1 ½ meetings.  Report any discrepancies in council terms to carroll@oswego.edu.

FA Clerk—please nominate a great student to be FA clerk for the next 2-3 years (training can start immediately)

III.    Reports of Councils, Committees, and Task Forces

  • Personnel Policies Council distributed the DSI schedule.
  • Priorities and Planning Council met on the 28th and approved changes to Biology programs and also approved changes to the early childhood program.  It was moved to waive the two-week rule.  This passed and the proposal was added to new business on today's agenda.

  • Campus Concept Committee met on April 27th and continued the discussion of Lanigan, Hewitt and the west quad and started a conversation about “Romney”.  Plans are to meet 2-3 times during the summer
