The Oswego Summer Art Institute is designed for rising 10th and 11th grade students to give them an opportunity to explore and expand their abilities in the world of art. Our program is structured to inspire all levels of art students and offers them a chance to experience group critiques, visit studios of practicing artists, and discuss aesthetic concerns with professionals. Our campus, bordered on the north by Lake Ontario, is located on the western city limits of Oswego. The Art Department and the Division of Continuing Education & Summer Sessions have joined together to offer you this exciting, enriching program. We are pleased to invite you to attend our 13th Summer Art Institute.
A weekend trip to Manhattan is an integral component of this program. Visits to museums, art galleries, and shows are incorporated into the trip. Accommodations during this trip are quad occupancy. Students enjoy this opportunity to discuss works of art from across the world. The program will culminate with a Tyler Art Gallery Exhibition of the students’ work for the artists and their parents, friends, and faculty on Saturday, August 9.
Successful completion of the Summer Art Institute earns three hours of college credit. The credit may be applied to any program at SUNY Oswego or easily transferred to another college or university.
Acceptance into the Art Institute is determined on a rolling basis within 2-3 weeks of our receipt of your application. Applications will be accepted until the program capacity has been reached. We recommend, however, that you apply by May 15.
The program cost of $2295 is inclusive of tuition, fees, supplies, room, meals, and class trip.
