Sculpture

3d art design

focuses on the process, concepts, and vocabulary used in three-dimensional formats. The physical and perceptual role of form, space, light, texture, and volume will be explored in a broad range of materials, tools, and processes. Three Dimensional Design introduces a variety of materials and explores techniques such as framing, additive, and subtractive processes. Develop sketches and ideas and make them come alive in three-dimensional form. Wire, found materials, clay, and paper are just a few of the mediums used.

Drawing

art class drawing

will emphasize the development of ideas using a free mix of media from pen and ink, pencil, and conte crayon to pastels. Apply your unique visual perception and way of putting images on paper. Gain a strong foundation in the basic technical skills involved in drawing. Learn the importance of perspective and composition, shading, modeling, and the use of line and texture. Study images and color through still life, landscape, and the figure. Be challenged by subject matter ranging from realism to abstraction and fantasy.

Painting

art class painting

will explore Art Elements and Principles of Design to create a one-of-a-kind piece for your portfolio. Painting and color theories will guide students in creating a large-scale abstract painting with acrylics and other mediums. Each class will teach students how to put together a well-developed composition. Sketching outside, hunting for found items, nontraditional painting techniques, demonstrations, art history slide presentations, brainstorming activities, and painting from real life are just a few of the highlights of the painting curriculum.

Graphic Design

art graphic design

introduces you to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Scanning applications, digital photography, and use of a Macintosh as a tool are taught. Explore by using design methods as a means for graphic production. QuarkXpress, the program used to design page layout, will be introduced. An advanced class may be offered, introducing multimedia and time-based software. A high level of understanding basic design elements and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator are recommended.

Digital Photography

art class photography

will expand your creative understanding of visual and technical elements. Involve yourself with considerations of composition, the choice of subject, and special effects. With hands-on experience using applicable technology, modern developments will be presented that have led to the present applications of digital imaging, which combine traditional photographic ideas with electronic media. Students will learn image manipulation software, scanning, and output devices by executing new assignments and applying these technologies to their photographic process.
