In the Classroom
Partnering with other SUNY schools, Oswego is able to provide undergraduate degree programs to north country students. Classroom courses for the north country student often meet at Jefferson Community College or Fort Drum. A typical north country student takes one night course during the evening a week and one via the internet with time flexibility. Full-time students can arrange schedules with a minimum of travel to the SUNY Oswego main campus.
Internet learning
A portion of the North Country student learning experience will take place online for most students, in the convenience of your own home, provided you have a computer and access to the internet. Whether it is your desktop PC or a laptop when you travel, you may study in a virtual classroom at any time, night or day. This allows for student flexibility in classroom assignments and discussions while saving the hassle of travel, finding parking, or arranging for childcare.
SUNY Oswego offers opportunities to the North Country in the following areas:
Business Administration
- Management practices and concepts of modern business organizations applicable today
- Basic business core subjects such as leadership, management, accounting, marketing, law and finance
- Credit review for previous coursework
- Careers in management, banking, sales, and marketing
Public Justice
- Course work toward a degree that would include in-depth study in your area of interest with supervised fieldwork
- Specialized areas including criminal justice, human services, and legal services that may lead to careers in law enforcement, forensics, the courts, and community service agencies
- The criminal justice system from perspectives of anthropological, legal, historical, philosophical, psychological and sociological
- Local field experience opportunities available
Vocational Teacher Preparation (Online)
- Convert your real world experience to up to 30 course credits in business, health care occupations, agriculture, family and consumer science, technical and trade areas into careers as NYS certified occupational trade teachers
- New York State Teacher Certification
- Add more value to your current position by adding certification in your current or related field
Online Broadcasting (BRC) Program
- Degree completion program for coursework in TV or radio
- Available for full-time or part-time students
- All classes taken in the online environment
- Leads to careers in radio, TV, cable, film, and mass media

Graduate Programs in the North Country
Students interested in SUNY Oswego’s MBA program, Human Services/Community Counseling, or Vocational Teacher Preparation may access courses at Oswego’s main campus, in the North Country, or online. Selected courses are offered on a rotating basis in the North Country. Students should check with their advisor regarding course and program planning.
