Accounting
The Evening Accounting Degree (EAD) program is designed to provide an
opportunity for adults in our community to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree
in Accounting on a part-time basis. The program is intended to give an
educational alternative to those individuals whose primary roles include
employment, parenting, and other adult activities. Nationally, adults comprise
52% of all students in higher education. The educational experience is a
rewarding one, as you pursue coursework with other adults from a variety of
backgrounds.
The program Oswego State University offers is designed to provide competency
in a core of basic theory, techniques, and processes as well as international
and advanced courses in accounting. The present program in Accounting is
registered with the State of New York for candidates seeking admission to sit
for the CPA examination.
Business Administration
The world of business has become increasingly complex and challenging in
recent years. Restructuring has become a way of life for many companies as they
strive to compete. This has created new problems and opportunities for
employees. There is a growing need for persons qualified to meet and manage
those challenges.
The Evening Business Degree (EBD) program is designed to provide an
opportunity for adults in our community to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree
in Business Administration on a part-time basis. The program is intended to
give an educational alternative to those individuals whose primary roles
include employment, parenting, and other adult activities. Nationally, adults
comprise 52% of all students in higher education. The educational experience is
a rewarding one, as you pursue coursework with other adults from a variety of
backgrounds.
The program Oswego State University offers is designed to provide competency
in a core of basic theory, techniques, processes, and technologies common to
all managerial activities. As with traditional-age students, Business
Administration is the most popular major among adults at Oswego. Evening
Business students have an opportunity to pursue their education on a part-time
basis while continuing to meet their other responsibilities.Â
Information Science
This is the information age. Society is confronted with enormous advances in
computer science, microelectronics, and telecommunications. There is a growing
need for persons qualified to manage these information systems effectively and
efficiently. Oswego offers a unique program of study in the processing,
management, and dissemination of information. Information Science, offered
within the Liberal Arts curriculum, provides students with a firm understanding
of the nature of information, the role of new technologies in the organization,
the manipulation of information, and the ethics associated with the proper use
and protection of that information. As part of the major, each student, in
cooperation with his/her advisor, creates a Learning Agreement for twelve hours
of course work in a particular area of interest.
The Information Science Evening Degree (ISED) program is intended to give an
educational alternative to those individuals whose primary roles include
employment, parenting and other adult responsibilities. ISED students have an
opportunity to pursue their education on a part-time basis while continuing to
meet their other responsibilities.
Public
Justice
This program is designed to provide an opportunity for adults in our
community to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Justice on a part-time
basis. The Public Justice Evening Degree (PJED) program at Oswego State
University is intended to give an educational alternative to those individuals
whose primary roles include employment, parenting, and other adult
responsibilities. Individuals pursuing careers in Human Service related fields,
may find this interdisciplinary degree program particulary appropriate to their
goals.
This part-time evening program includes core courses related to the Public
Justice system, supported by course offerings from Sociology, Anthropology,
Psychology, Counseling and other appropriate disciplines. In addition, this
program gives students the opportunity to complete a practicum (internship)
experience in a relevant work setting.
Minor in
Economics
The minor in economics consists of a body of related courses designed to
give the student in depth exposure to a specified sub-area of economics. The
requirements for a minor in economics includes Economics 101 and 200 (6 hours).
Twelve hours in economics under advisement. These courses must be numbered 300
or above and be taken at Oswego. A grade point average of 2.0 or better must be
maintained in all economics courses.
