Achieving Quality in Patient-Centered Geriatric Care
Spring 2007

REGISTER NOW for a facilitated dialogue among health care staff assisting seniors and frail elders.

Choose single sessions or attend all four at a special series discount! Real-time, dual-campus interaction. Each session meets simultaneously at the Fulton and Auburn campuses of Cayuga Community College. Distance learning classrooms at both campuses enable all participants to interact in real time.

Session 1: Wednesday, April 18 - 6 to 8:30 PM

The new face of gerontology: Contemporary trends and issues on aging Dr. Paul Roodin, SUNY Oswego professor, presents evidence from research supporting the importance of engaging seniors and their families in dialogue regarding health outcomes.

Session 2: Wednesday, April 25 - 6 to 8:30 PM

Hearing the patient’s voice: Strategies for effective communication and conflict resolution Dr. Jody Fiorini, SUNY Oswego professor, reviews skills to reduce stress in communicating health messages to seniors, frail elders, and their caregivers.

Session 3: Wednesday, May - 2 to 8:30 PM

Building purposeful case management teams: A coordinated approach in a patient-centered environment Carmen Munson, licensed master social worker and consultant, recommends best practices for developing an effective interdisciplinary geriatric team.

Session 4: Wednesday, May 9 - 6 to 8:30 PM

Extending quality of care: Maximizing patient-centered services through strengthened community collaborations Deborah Bobbett, B.S., health promotion and gerontology specialist, describes steps for effective networking, with examples of outcome-oriented geriatric community collaborations.

Certificate of completion provided for each session attended.
