Communication Skills for Managers
April 22 and April 29 • 8:30am - 5:00pm
Become a more effective manager by increasing your reading, writing, speaking, and listening proficiency. Communicate concisely and correctly to avoid misunderstanding. Master the techniques of public speaking, from initial planning to actual presentation. Express your ideas clearly and concisely in every report and proposal you write. Understand and use body language, feedback and “active” listening as tools of effective communication. Evaluate your listening habits and build on your strengths.

Performance Management           NEW
May 15 and May 22 • 8:30am - 5:00pm
People constitute the real competitive advantage in business and industries of all types.  Enhancing the performance of your people and ultimately your organization depends on the continuous improvement of staff at all levels.  An effective Performance Management system is essential to help employees perform at their best and align their contributions with the goals, values, and initiatives of the organization.  Learn a clear model you can follow to plan, monitor, analyze, and maintain a satisfying process of performance improvement for your staff.  Strategies for developing the crucial communication skills of coaching, problem solving, and giving feedback while teaching methods for linking organization and personal goals.  By demystifying the role of performance management techniques, you can encourage employees to manage their own performance.

Managing today's complex workplace demands a new type of leadership, especially when change is now the norm.  Learn the day-to-day skills that are used by the world's most dynamic leaders, along with a leadership model powered by five unique skill-sets.Topics include how to, empower and motivate employees to peak performance; managing change in a positive, proactive way, and key attitudes and mindset that influence a leader’s daily plan and actions.

Evening Classes

How to Train Employees:  A Guide for Managers           NEW
March 26; April 2, 9, 23, 30 • 6pm - 9pm
The need for a flexible, well-trained workforce grows.  Training employees to master business critical skills has become a baseline requirement for managerial success.  This new course provides the tools and techniques to assess, design, deliver and evaluate training that is right for every employee.  Gain the skill to link training to short-term job requirements and the strategic needs of the business.   Learn how to set training objectives and other measures of support for the transfer of learning from training back to the job. Apply proven principles of adult learning throughout the process of staff development.  Learn how to present both on-the-job as well as classroom training and new staff training will be easier and more effective.

Assertiveness for Career and Personal Success           NEW

Expressing your honest thoughts and feelings to others and asking for, and getting, others to respect your basic rights and needs is not always easy.  Assertiveness for Career and Personal Success will help you build on your existing strengths and improve your overall ability to assert yourself in responsible and appropriate ways.  Understand techniques for managing others while maintaining mutual respect.  Recognize and avoid self-defeating behaviors.  Manage others without being aggressive or manipulative.  Learn how to respond to other people's needs without giving up your own and how to say "no" to unfair demands.  Enhance your self-image--and your on-the-job authority.

Sharpen Your Business Writing           NEW
April 29; May 6, 13, 20, 27 • 6:30pm - 9:30pm
Update your writing skills and excel in today’s e- writing environment with the tools offered in this course.  The course features special strategies to speed online research and guidelines for creating safe and savvy e-mail. You’ll acquire the techniques that professional writers use to research, draft, compose, and edit their work. Examples and checklists will keep you on track as you practice writing better letters, memos, proposals, reports, and e-mail (with its own rules and etiquette).  Once you've completed this course, your writing will be more effective, polished, and direct. It will distinguish you and help you move ahead, whether you're an administrative assistant or company officer. 

Finance for Non Financial Managers
May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 • 6pm - 9pm
Gain an understanding of basic accounting concepts and principles and how they apply to the real world. You will gain the skills and confidence to use everyday financial terms, the four primary financial statements,  and tools to administer business transactions and become an informed decision maker.
