Finance for Non Financial Managers in Not for Profits
Coming in 2010
This fundamental course clearly explains how to understand financial and operational measures, prepare and utilize budgets, respond to inquiries about the dollar-and-cents consequences of actions taken by you or your department and speak the jargon of finance with fluency and ease. Changes in the new tax laws for not for profits will be highlighted.

Fundamentals of Human Resources
Coming in 2010

Understand the key aspects of staffing, training, and compensation practices including strategies planning, Human Resource Information System (HRIS), Internet recruiting, employee selection legalities, writing job descriptions and policies, and succession planning.  Gain skills and knowledge to develop a human resources plan based on organizational needs.

Project Management
Thursdays, Nov. 5, 12, 19; Dec. 3, 10 from 6-9 pm
From initial planning to final review, learn how to set measurable objectives, estimate and control costs, design schedules, and manage relationships across the spectrum of project stakeholders.  Through interactive exercises, you will develop the the critical management skills that are required to plan, manage, and deliver highly successful projects within an organizational setting.

How to Manage Your Priorities
Mondays, Nov. 9, 16, 30; Dec. 7, 14 from 6-9 pm
In today's competitive workplace - where people at all levels need to accomplish more, in less time, with fewer resources - the ability to manage priorities is a key element in personal and professional success.  Acquire strategies to identify and manage key priorities, achieve objectives, improve the quality of work, and reduce stress.  Learn to identify what's important, accomplish more in less time by managing your workload, and remove the obstacles that interfere with your success.


Manager's Guide to Hiring, Firing and Employee Rights
Thursdays, Nov. 12 and Nov. 19 from 8:30-5 pm
Discover how the laws governing equal opportunity and employee rights protect not only your employees, but you, the manager, as well.  You'll see that understanding and adhering to employment law is simply good business.  Learn how to recognize a "hostile work environment", develop an effective sexual harassment policy, take progressive disciplinary action prior to dismissing an employee, and identify potential employment law violations before they happen.
