Broadcasting and Mass Communication Online Application
One Degree - Many Possiblities
Application for Online Degree Program in Broadcasting and Mass Communications at SUNY Oswego. Do not submit this application as a printed document. It must be submitted online. If you have an earned Associates Degree (or higher) or comparable earned credit in a media program at an accredited college or university and are prepared to apply to be accepted into the Online Degree Program in the Broadcasting and Mass Communication Major, enter the information requested below click "submit" at the bottom of the page. Be sure that you have read and understand all elements of this application before submitting it. The application will be time and date stamped. A copy will be returned to you during the preliminary review stage.

2. Have you applied to SUNY Oswego for acceptance into the Broadcasting and Mass Communication Major?


If the answer is NO, you must have applied to SUNY Oswego and been accepted into the broadcasting major before you will be considered for this program. You MAY apply to this online program before submitting your tuition deposit but only after you have been accepted to study at Oswego. If your application is received one month (or longer) before the deposit due date, we will notify you of our decision no later than one week before the deposit is due. We will then make every effort to enroll you in online courses for the next semester. Note, however, that if a deposit is not received by the deposit due date, your enrollment in the program will not begin until the semester immediately following the term in which your deposit is received.

3. Have you received a letter from the Dean of Admissions that your application has been approved?


If the answer is NO, please do not submit this application until you have been notified of the decision by the Office of Admissions.

If the answer is NO, please do not submit this application until you have received that document. If you have not received it, neither have we, and we will be unable to assess your progress until we are able to verify your status. Contact the Office of Admissions at 315.312.2250 to request copies of your credit evaluation - one to be mailed to yourself and one to this office (attn: Online Broadcasting, Communication Studies Department, Lanigan Hall).

6. If you have received your letter of acceptance to SUNY Oswego's Broadcasting and Mass Communication major and you have received your transfer credit evaluation document, you may proceed. Note: if you are a SUNY Oswego Broadcasting and Mass Communication major studying on campus but wishing to apply to continue your study through this online program you must have completed ALL general education requirements and the following courses in the major: BRC 108, COM 210, BRC 220 or 235, and POL 205. These courses are NOT offered as online options. Transfer students will have met these requirements subsequent to being accepted into the program.

Important note about registration for online courses. A certain number of positions are held temporarily in each online course during pre-registration periods to accommodate online program enrollees as a priority.  At the conclusion of the campus-wide pre-registration period all remaining positions are opened to non-matriculated and full time resident students on a first come, first served basis.  On (and after) that date, online program students who did not register during the pre-registration period will no longer be eligible for priority access. Summer and Winter session courses are first come, first serve for all students irrespective of whether they are resident, online, or non-matriculated.
