• Discipline Vernacular: Are We Constructing or Deconstructing?
• Programs: Why So Many Approaches and Deviations?
• 21st Century Disciplines: What’s Emerging Now? What’s On the Horizon?
Journalism
The landscape of Journalism seems to change every week. What to teach our students? Stop in for a brief survey of recent changes in the industry, a discussion of how to best prepare our students to be tomorrow's communicators, and a look at the future--It's all about reporting and getting the information out via multi-media. But the traditions of interviewing, fact-checking and good writing remain the same.
Music
The Structures and Movement of Breathing: A Primer for Choirs and Choruses, we will explore and challenge many of the truisms and facts associated with teaching students how to breathe for singing. Attention will be given to alignment, posture, flexibility, movement and breath in this class designed to aid choral directors in getting the best and healthiest sound from their groups.
Theater
This workshop will offer strategies to assist High School Drama teachers who must also double as acting coaches as they help students prepare for college auditions. Topics to be addressed include: age appropriate monologues, audition protocol, use of heightened language, advice on rehearsing and what kind of program will best suit a student.
