Student Organizations

In addition to a variety of groups open to all SUNY Oswego students, the following organizations are made up of candidates from the School of Education:

Education Club
All undergraduate elementary, secondary, technology, and vocational teacher education candidates are encouraged to get involved in the Ed Club.  Group members cooperatively plan activities that meet your needs, such as informational meetings about program requirements, mock interviews, preparation of interview portfolios and resumes, and social events.  For more information, contact Faculty Advisors Diann Jackson (jackson@oswego.edu, 315-312-7961), Carolyn McKeever (mckeever@oswego.edu, 315-312-2644) or Shirley Wells (swells1@oswego.edu, 315-312-6282).

Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society
If you are a junior, senior, or graduate education major with at least a 3.3 GPA, you will be invited by letter to join Kappa Delta Pi.  Throughout the year, group members organize informational meetings about state exams and student teaching issues; book fairs; and other service and social events.  For more information, take a peek at the display in Wilber Hall (first floor), go to the Kappa Delta Pi web site or contact Dr. Harrison Hao Yang, Faculty Advisor (Wilber Hall, 315-312-2651).

Oswego Technology Education Association
OTEA is designed to give technology education students interesting and enjoyable opportunities for professional development and collaboration with fellow students and faculty.  The group operates the OTEA lab in 206 Park Hall, where students can work on projects. OTEA members assist at the annual Technology Department Fall Conference; and recognize leadership potential though the Clyde Wyant Award.  OTEA is represented at the New York State and International Technology Education Association.  Contact Mr. Philip Gaines, Technology Department Chair (209 Park Hall, 315-312-3011) for more information.

Vocational Teacher Association
Students enrolled in the Vocational Teacher Preparation programs have the opportunity to become actively involved in the field through the student Vocational Teacher Association.  The association sponsors speakers, field trips (industry and education), and undertakes other activities to enhance your professional development.  For more information, contact Dr. Margaret Martin, VTP Department Chair, (307 Park Hall, 315-312-2274).
