Field Placement Office

The Field Placement Office was established in 2001 with 250 candidates placed in early experiences and 350 candidates in student teaching placements.  Today, the number of placements made for teacher candidates have almost tripled.  More than 1,200 placements are made in nearly 300 schools and other agencies during each academic year.  The Field Placement Office currently works closely with the Curriculum & Instruction Program, the Technology Education Program, and the Vocational Teacher Preparation Program to arrange field experience and student teaching placements for teacher candidates.

The Field Placement Office collaborates with academic faculty, public/private schools and community partners to locate authentic, rich, engaging and diverse hands-on experiences for all teacher candidates in the School of Education.  Field experiences with real childern are an integral part of the teacher education program at SUNY Oswego.  From your first education course through student teaching and beyond, you will be supported by talented faculty and professionals in a variety of settings to develop your skills as a beginning educator.
