THT 300 Requirements

THT 300 - Advanced Theatre Production Spring - 2005

Instructor: Michael de Almeida, 47 Tyler Hall

1. You must have significant participation in the two Spring productions: Big and Measure for Measure. Participation in other productions is encouraged but, unless approved by your instructor, does not count towards this course.

Significant participation for a production means either a cast/run crew member or working a minimum of 30 hours in one of the shops or box office. Ushering, Student Theatre, New Voices, or the Oswego Opera etc, is encouraged, but does not count towards this course. Feel free to check with your instructor to insure the activities you plan are considered appropriate.

Shop/Box Office Hours:

If you plan to work in the scene shop, you must schedule at least one time session with the Technical Director (Johan Godwaldt, Rm. 47). A schedule of available sessions is on the back of this sheet. Box Office Hours must be scheduled with the Box Office Coordinator Kelly Cullinan. The box office schedule is on the back of this sheet. Hours for the costume shop must scheduled with the Costume Shop Supervisor Judith McCabe.

Additional hours may be worked according to the posted schedules in each area. You must record your hours on a time sheet kept by the supervisor of each area. All shop hours must be completed by Thursday, May 5th 4:30PM.

The following hours/grade ratio is a guideline for total hours worked on each production. Your grade will also depend on the quality of your work during these hours. If you plan to work shop/box office hours only, you must work 30 hours for each half of the semester, that is 30 hours prior to 3/4/05 and an additional 30 hours starting 3/7/05. Strike hours do not count towards this requirement.

2. You must participate in the entire strike of both productions. This includes cast members. Missing any part of a strike will automatically lower your course grade by one letter. Attendance will be taken at the beginning & end of the strike. Strike dates are Big– 03/6/05, Measure for Measure - 05/01/05 Strikes generally run between 4 and 6 hours, will start 20 minutes after the last performance, and, if necessary, may include additional hours the following day. Any changes in strike dates will be posted ASAP on the Crew Call & Tech Info section of the board outside the Costume Shop. Strike hours do not count towards shop/box office hours.

3. You must complete a 2 page paper describing what you did during the semester. This is due in the envelope on the door of room 47 Tyler by 4:30pm on Friday 5/6/05. Paper can be submitted electronically to almeida@oswego.edu . This paper is used by your instructor to help verify what you did over the semester.
