Summer '08

Ron Medici did some traveling in the winter to Cancun and Florida just to escape the bad weather. He directed Crimes of the Heart for Mohawk Valley Community College.

John and Sandy Mincher are continuing to live the Florida Lifestyle at their new home in Palm Coast, Florida. They are lucky to have their three daughters living in the same area. John is continuing with his writing and has begun to do landscape oil painting. Sandy is active in both the community and with her church. They are planning a trip in the fall to San Francisco, Reno, and Vancouver BC. They intend to be in Oswego for a short period of time in September and again in October. Their e-mail address is jsmincher@hotmail.com.

Rosemary Nesbitt was honored on Saturday, May 3 at a banquet in celebration of her retirement as the H. Lee White Marine Museum's Founding Director. In the late 1970's the Port Authority of Oswego charged Mrs. Nesbitt to "oversee the creation of the museum" and she was appointed to the position of museum director. The museum opened in the summer of 1982. Mrs. Nesbitt's interest in preserving and promoting local and regional history, her gifts as a storyteller and her personal vision that helped to shape the unique collection made her the ideal driving force for this endeavor. Over 100 people attended the banquet in Mrs. Nesbitt's honor at King Arthur's Restaurant. Among the many accolades of the evening, Mayor Randy Bateman proclaimed the day to be Rosemary Nesbitt Day in the City of Oswego and the Port of Oswego Authority made her an honorary Harbormaster. Mrs. Nesbitt will continue to serve the museum as an ex-officio member of the museum board.

Bill ('68) and Theresa (Gibbons) Stark ('92) have been living in Milford, Connecticut for seven years now and love it. Bill continues to work as a scenic at the Long Wharf Theatre and as an adjunct and designer at Quinnipiac University. Theresa stage-managed a summer 2008 production of Evita at the Ivoryton Playhouse. Billy, Jr. will be in 5th grade starting September 2nd. Their email address is we3starks@sbcglobal.net.

Sandy Sternlicht continues to teach American, British, and Irish drama in Syracuse University's English Department. In May he was one of three adjudicators (one from Ireland, one from Canada, and Sandy) at the 15th Annual Acting Irish Theatre Festival held this time in the GEVA Theatre in Rochester, NY. 10 Irish plays from companies in the three countries were adjudicated and prizes awarded. Connor McPherson was strongly represented. Early this year Sandy's recent critical study MASTERPIECES OF BRITISH AND IRISH DRAMA (Greenwood, 2005) was republished in China in a paperback with the original English text and Chinese notations. The publisher is the University of Renmin Press (Beijing). Having directed Cabaret some 25 years ago at Oswego, (with Soluri, Minchner, Medici, and Macey doing their stuff), Sandy came up to see the new Oswego production in May and enjoyed it very much. Regards to all.

Jon & Carol Vermilye would like to announce they finally have a grand daughter - Valerie App, born December 18th, 2007. Like everything else, photos are on the website at http://lakeshoreimages.com/valerie.html

Other than that, not many changes from last year. Although still on oxygen, Carol is doing well, and we plan to spend early August in Nantucket with Don & Anne Guido.
