Research Interests:

My primary research examines the development of masculinity among men and women, with particular attention given to the different meanings, enactments, and implications of masculinity. This research includes two different theoretical approaches to the study of masculinity, one that positions masculinity as a belief system or “ideology," and one that positions masculinity as a more holistic entity that influences many different aspects of an individual’s life (i.e., “masculinities"). My secondary line of research examines the normative development of romantic/dating and sexual behavior among adolescents and young (or “emerging") adults. Within this research, emphasis is placed on the development of healthy relationships and sexual decision-making.
