With degrees in history from the University of Wisconsin & Syracuse University, Allen Stagl first served with the Peace Corps in Morocco, where he taught English and then worked at the Moroccan National Tourist Office as publications translator and interpreter.

Al Stagl brings to the French Program a long and valuable experience in teaching French language, literature & civilization. In 2006 he also started teaching Global Cities: Paris, a Quarter course which culminates with a class trip to the City of Light.

His interests include classical music, especially Vivaldi and Baroque chamber music on period instruments; movies - 2008 favorites are The Painted Veil, Atonement and Roman de Gare; and all types of restaurants. He has also been a competitive runner since 2003, training and racing distances from 200m to 5K; but he will never be a marathoner.
