Dr. Giukin has an undergraduate degree in theory and criticism from the West University of Timisoara in Romania. She later earned a MA in French Literature from the University of Illinois in Chicago and a Ph.D in Interdisciplinary French Studies (French & Francophone Cinema Studies) from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
After teaching at the University of Illinois in Chicago & Urbana-Champaign, and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Dr. Giukin came to SUNY Oswego. Since 2003 Dr. Giukin coordinates the French program in the department of Modern Languages. A generalist, she teaches all levels of language, literature, civilization, and cinema.
At the present Dr. Giukin prepares a new course in Francophone Literature and Theory. A permanent student at heart, she likes to enhance her knowledge through numerous travels abroad. Besides France, she visited Serbia, Bulgaria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Canada & the United Kingdom. She also enjoys painting, photography and drawing.
