French Reading Initiative

French Reading Initiative

The French Reading Initiative is a program, based off of the Oswego Reading Initiative, that takes one book every semester that relates to the content of the classes being offered in the upcoming semester. The book of choice is used as a reference tool in the classroom at various levels. While ideally we request that the book be read in French, each book is available in English. For the upcoming Fall 2009 semester we have several books in mind, Gide’s, L'immoraliste as well as Michel Tournier’s, La Goutte D'Or. This activity provides an opportunity for the department to unite and discuss the themes of a particular novel, as well as the an interaction between the faculty and the students.
