The mathematics programs at Oswego are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in applied as well as theoretical mathematics. The department offers a B.A. in mathematics and a B.S. in applied mathematics, a minor in mathematics, a minor in applied statistics and an interdisciplinary major in applied mathematical economics. Students majoring in education may be interested in the mathematics concentration(grades 1-6) and mathematics certification (grades 7-12).
It is possible to obtain both a major in mathematics and a minor in statistics. This option gives a strong preparation to a student interested in graduate work in the growing areas of environmental statistics, biostatistics or other areas of applied statistics. Majors in our unique program in applied mathematical economics have been particularly successful in their employment search, finding positions in the financial area.
Mathematics-Aplied Statistics Co-op program integrates a six-month work experience into the major in Mathematics and the minor in Applied Statistics.
We also offer a master of arts in teaching mathematics initial certification.
