Concentrations30 cr
  • Students will choose a concentration in Global Politics and Governance, Global Political Economy, Global Culture, or one of the Area Studies. At least 15 cr in the area of concentration must be at the upper-division level (300 or above).
*Students will take a seminar relevant to their chosen Concentrate, under advisement. Gls 400 courses will most often be cross-listed with seminars in participating departments and approved by the Global and International Studies Committee, although on occasion a seminar may be specific to Global and International Studies.
**GLS 401-International Internship - internship must be in the area of concentration.

Global Politics and Governance

30 cr

Consists of courses focused on the study of political and social issues between states, the history and structure of the global order, and concerns about international organization, transnational social movements, global governance, and the global commons. Courses must be taken from at least three different departments.
