Data analyzed on teacher learning and results (e.g. Faculty surveys, teachers reflective journals) We collected the following data. We did not have time to analyze it during the year and we didn’t look at it in the Summer Institute because we had no teachers with us. 1. Teacher impressions of the College Experience |

Data analyzed on student learning and results: (e.g. annual literacy assessments/NYS report card disaggregated data for 4th grade ELA, analysis of rubric scores on students writing samples each quarter for students in v.s. not in the program): 1). Actual letters written by Delaware children to SUNY Oswego pre-service teachers were analyzed by teachers who found that overall, most of the Delaware children made fewer mistakes the more writing they did with the pre-service teachers. We are still working with the teachers on presenting this data in a way that would be interpretable to other people. 2). Questionnaires which were filled out by: Delaware students’ impressions of the College Experience SUNY Oswego pre-service teachers’ impressions of the College Experience Parents’ (of Delaware students) impressions of the College Experience SUNY Oswego pre-service teachers’ impressions of their Field Placement Experience |

Action Plan for 2005-6 (list objectives, activities, people responsible, month by month for the academic year. E.g. September— Peng will recruit teachers for ESL study group to focus on analyzing various models of ESL instruction, October-teacher team members recruit/select students to participate in the College Experience and pair with Candidate writing partners—pre-assess students’ writing samples…) Our central goal is to coordinate with Delaware teachers, students, parents, Oswego preservice teachers, and Oswego professors to continue and expand: (a). the Delaware/Oswego College Experience specifically, we want to include more students and parents. (b). the field experience for Oswego preservice teachers at Delaware Specifically, we want to secure more field placements and orient preservice teachers in ways that are maximally helpful to Delaware teachers. Although last year, some teachers got a good start doing this, this year, we plan to focus on all the teachers learning how to get and interpret data and to make decisions based on data. We plan to de-emphasize conference-attending, because at the moment, we cannot offer funding for the teachers and because we want to get a handle on data so we have something to share at conferences. To this end we will follow these steps during Fall and Spring 2006-2007 as usual: a). Continue to find grants to apply for. b). Continue to try to get Delaware teachers paid by the Syracuse City School District. c). Continue to figure out ways to get more parents to participate, and to reach parents in general. d). Continue to collect data on the fall College Experience. e). Learn to analyze data in group meetings. f). Teachers to collaborate and write/revise a document explaining to the SUNY Oswego pre-service teachers how to write letters to Delaware children.
