Biology BS Requirements

Biology B.S.

The information below is offered by the Department. Official program requirements and course descriptions, above, are the most recent available.

The Department of Biological Sciences offers additional information on biology courses that includes information about course instructor's, evaluation methods used, and additional information about the course content.

In addition to a year of introductory biology, a semester of genetics, courses from each of three broad areas in biology (organismal biology/systematics; ecology/behavior; physiology/cellular biology), and four elective courses, the hallmark of the biology BA degree program at Oswego is Research in Biology (Bio 492): a required upper level research experience in a small class setting, involving lab or field studies or both.

The Biology B.S. Degree requirements are fundamentally the same except that students are required to take two Problems in Biology courses and three more elective courses.
