Professor Zakin is a Medieval and Renaissance Art Historian. She received her graduate training at the University of Iowa (MA) and Syracuse Univ. (PhD). Her PhD dissertation entitled, French Cistercian Grisaille Glass, was published by Garland in 1979. Another book, Stained Glass before 1700 in the Collections of the Midwest States (Corpus Vitrearum USA), co-authored with Virginia Raguin, appeared in 2001. In addition she has published many articles about stained glass and about various topics related to Cistercian windows. She teaches the Survey of Art as well as Medieval, Italian Renaissance and Northern Renaissance Art. Professor Zakin has received the President's Award for Creative and Scholarly Activity and many grants, including several from SUNY Oswego.
