Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

The society is directed toward all students interested in actively learning about the field of Human Resources.  Membership is open to all majors.  S.H.R.M. is affiliated with the national organization in Alexandria, Virginia and the parent chapter is located in Syracuse, New York.  Activities include professional speakers from the parent chapter and local businesses, including PayChex Corporation and Ferguson.  An annual conference is held by the students plus seminars and workshops on resumes, interviews and internships.  Other activities include luncheons and letter writing to legislators discussing human resource issues.

Among the most exciting activities is the "HR Games" where Oswego competes with other leading schools on a regional and national basis.  This and many other networking opportunities are available.

The Oswego student chapter is proud that it has achieved national recognition in the form of a national merit award the past two years.  This accomplishment reflects true enthusiasm for learning about the field of human resources.

Of the many opportunities available to S.H.R.M. members - internships and shadow days with Human Resource managers are the most popular.  The chapter government council includes president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer.  There are many ways to receive recognition for outstanding achievement in this group, including scholarships and research project awards.
