Students within the School of Business are exposed to a number of experiences while attending SUNY Oswego. These experiences range from classroom assignments, on-campus work opportunities and membership in professional organizations. These professional organizations are student-operated, faculty advised, and provide avenues to interact with and gain experience from professional groups within the Oswego business community.
Organizations
The Goal of Professionalism
Professionalism as a specific goal is a necessary and desired objective for all business students. It relates to a high level of commitment in the attainment of personal and professional goals, concern for completion of academic and business tasks at hand, and to well-developed interpersonal relations with people in the workplace.
In addition, other factors determine professionalism including the way one acts, dresses or speaks. Professionalism and the acceptance of the code of ethics are expected by all student members of the professional business organizations.
Code of Ethics
Each member of the School of Business must acknowledge personal responsibility to
expand their education in the field of business and to carry out the objectives declared by the School of Business to the best of their ability.
Included in each person's pledge are the following:
- To support the goals and objectives in that field.
- To support the code of ethics provided by other organizations.
- To display a unity of spirit and cohesiveness of purpose in bringing fair and equitable treatment to all people.
- To personally refrain from using their official positions to secure special privileges.
