Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)
General Information
The Master of Business Administration degree is intended to facilitate the
career development of individuals presently in management positions or to
provide the foundation for individuals aspiring to move into management
positins. The basic program consists of 36 graduate credit hours of core,
directed elective, and elective study which builds upon an 21 credit hour
foundation of accepted management skills, concepts, and principles. This
program is intended to be equally applicable to private, public, and governmental
sectors of management. Each program participant will be assigned an advisor
upon entrance into the program. This advisor will work closely with the
participant in developing a program of study.
Admission
A program participant must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited
college or university. Applicants to the program should have a minimum of
a 2.6/4.0 undergraduate GPA and a minimum score of 450 on the Graduate Management
Aptitude Test. Each participant must submit two letters of reference in
addition to the transcripts and examination reports required. The graduate
director will review applications and provide recommendations to the graduate
dean. Admission procedures are delineated in the Admissions section of the
Graduate Catalog.
Degree Candidacy
It is the responsibility of the student to file for degree candidacy when
12 to 18 hours of graduate study have been completed. Hours over 18 are
subject to forfeiture. The graduate director will conduct a review of the
candidate';s academic performance. Evidence of graduate level ability and
a cumulative average of 3.0 or better is required to qualify for the awarding
of degree candidacy status.
Transfer Credit
Up to six credit hours of accredited and approved graduate work may be transferred
from other graduate programs of study.
Foundation Requirements
The foundation requirements should be completed in order to continue in
the program beyond the first year. Credit may be given for these requirements
based on prior academic credit, completion of programs with similar content,
or experience. It is anticipated that most foundation requirements would
have been previously satisfied by undergraduate course work for the typical
business undergraduate student or a student in a business related field
such as economics, computer science, etc. In addition, courses will be taught
periodically which satisfy these requirements as a service to interested
program participants. Credits earned below the 510 level are not a part
of the 36 hours required for program completion. Participants may simultaneously
complete their final foundation requirements and begin to take core courses
as long as prerequisite requirements for core courses are met. The specific
foundation requirements are: Mba 501, Mba 502, Mba 503, Mba 504, Mba 505,
Mba 506, and Mba 507.

Five Year Combined B.A./M.B.A. Degree Program In Psychology
General Information
The Psychology BA/MBA program is a multi-disciplinary program offered jointly by the Department of Psychology and the School of Business, and is designed to prepare Oswego psychology graduates for careers in business. At the conclusion of the program, the student will receive a BA in Psychology, a minor in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration degree.
Admission
Applicants for admission to the undergraduate portion of the combined degree program will be limited to entering freshmen with a minimum high school average of 90% and a combined SAT score of 1150. Additionally, students who have completed 30 hours of college credit can apply to transfer into the undergraduate portion of the program if they have a minimum GPA of 3.3. Students in the combined program will need to maintain a GPA of 3.0. Students with a cumulative GPA below 3.0 will receive an academic warning. Students with a cumulative GPA below 3.0 for two semesters will be discontinued from the combined degree track and transferred into the regular BA Psychology four year program and the Business Administration minor program.
All students admitted to the undergraduate portion of the program will need to take the GMAT exam and apply to the MBA program in the second semester of their junior year in order to continue in the combined program. Applicants to the MBA program must submit the admission application that all MBA students complete and have a minimum GMAT score of 460 and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0. The standard admittance requirement to the MBA degree program is an undergraduate GPA of 2.6 and a GMAT score of 460. Students not qualifying for candidacy in the MBA degree program will graduate with a major in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration. Accepted student may take MBA 516, International Business and MBA 517, Organizational Management: A Global Perspective in their senior year. All other requirements for the regular MBA degree program remain the same for students enrolled in the combined degree program.
