Dr. Karns received his B.S. degree from Penn State University, and his MBA and Ph.D. degrees from Syracuse University.  Appointed in 1976, Dr. Karns' teaching interests are in Operations Management, Management Policy, and Ethics. His research interests include Management Competencies and Total Quality Management.  Dr. Karns served as Dean of the School of Business from its inception in 1992 until June 2007.  He is a member in the American Management Association, Decision Science Institute, and the Society for College and University Planning.
