Dr. Friedman received his Ph.D. degree from the Ohio State University and his BA degree from the University of Rochester. He teaches undergraduate and graduate level courses in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. He earned the President's Award for Teaching Excellence in 2008 and the Provost's Award for Scholarly and Creative Activity in 2007. Dr. Friedman earned a SUNY Oswego distinguished service professorship that affirms the State University’s commitment to excellence in teaching coupled with university service.
Dr. Friedman teaches in Singapore, Japan, and the USA, and has extensive industry experience spanning manufacturing and service sectors with ExxonMobil, Xerox, and Harris Interactive where he served as Director of Training and Development and Human Resource Manager.
Dr. Friedman has published over 25 journal articles and 20 presentations about labor relations, organizational effectiveness, and employee satisfaction in Industrial Relations, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and the Academy of Management, among others. Dr. Friedman is the faculty advisor for the SUNY Oswego Society for Human Resource Management student chapter that has won superior recognition awards from the professional SHRM organization. He is an honorary inductee into Alpha Sigma Lambda, continuing adult education honor society.
