The School of Business at the State University of New York at Oswego houses the HRM Center. Accredited by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) since 2002, the School of Business is housed in a state-of-the-art academic building. It offers a range of undergraduate programs, several interdisciplinary programs, and MBA programs to approximately 1,300 students.
HRM Center Mission
To bring academics and business professionals together by supporting community outreach, research, continuing professional education, student education, social responsibility, diversity initiatives and consulting to further the field of Human Resource Management.
Thanks to a generous donation from Mr. Patrick Murphy, SUNY Oswego class of 1974 and Dean's Advisory Board member, all new student SHRM members' first year fee have been reimbursed. The HRM Center continues to underwrite student chapter educational activities.
Lilly Ledbetter, an activist for equal pay for women, visited campus on February 28, 2013. Lilly spoke about her own fight for fair pay by standing up for her rights at Goodyear Tire Company, and how women and men can advocate for equal rights in the workplace. Lilly's story inspired President Obama which prompted him to sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which allows victims of unequal pay to challenge the discrimination within 180 days of any paychecck. The Center for Human Resource Management provided support for her presentation.
To be competitive, employers must confront many challenges, including change, leadership, and employment law compliance. Employers also must attract, select, motivate and retain top talent. Progressive companies seek answers to important workplace issues, and the HRM Center offers support and competencies relevant to employers’ human resource management needs.
