We know this is a busy time of the semester for you. However, it is time for SUNY Oswego to request from its established CourseSpace faculty their intentions for migrating to the ANGEL Learning Management System platform for the Fall semester. As in past semesters, this will be accomplished by completing an online form.
This is an exciting time for us at SUNY Oswego. ANGEL is a powerful tool that can enrich your course’s online presence more than ever before. The user interface is easy to use for both faculty and students. A few of ANGEL’s features include the ability to import test banks, send course mail, release time sensitive material and a grade book. To assist you in converting your CourseSpace template into an Angel course as well as provide you with the fundamental teaching and management skills relevant to Angel, a series consisting of two 2-hour workshops has been developed. At the time of the first workshop, your previous CourseSpace course (if one is available) will have been migrated to an ANGEL course. You will then begin to learn the skills necessary to revise and rework your course within ANGEL. The second workshop will focus on the course management tools within ANGEL (i.e.; grade book). These training workshops are required to migrate to ANGEL.
Due to the number of potential faculty who may request to migrate to ANGEL, we will not be offering any new faculty training workshops until sometime later in the calendar year. Instead we will be offering Angel Migration Training to any faculty who has completed either SLN or CourseSpace training in the past. For those wishing to get ahead start with training, Workshop 1 will be offered multiple times through-out April. A listing of dates, times and locations can be found on the ANGEL website announcement page. Workshop 2 will be offered in May – dates are still pending. Workshop 1 will also be offered during the beginning of June followed by workshop 2 in early July. Registration for the April workshop is available online.
If you plan to migrate from CourseSpace to the ANGEL, complete the Faculty Interest Form by March 21, 2007. The list of faculty names will then be reviewed by the appropriate Dean’s office before the course migration process can begin preparing for training.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. If you have any questions concerning the migration to ANGEL, please contact Kathi Dutton, Technology Support Professional, either at 312-2009 or dutton@oswego.edu.
