NEW: Read initial draft of strategic plan and provide comments

The college's next strategic plan, to be launched in fall 2014, will build off the strength and accomplishments of the college's three previous strategic plans: "Engaging Learning" (late 1990s), "Engagement 2000" (early 2000s), and "Engaging Challenge, the Sesquicentennial Plan" (2007).  These three plans helped shift the paradigm of the college away from one tied only to measures of teaching inputs and to a new pervasive theme of learning-centeredness that is now imbedded in the fabric of the college and demonstrated through an institutional culture supporting and cultivating rich experiential learning opportunities, service learning experiences, and collaborative faculty-student research conducted both in the United States and abroad. The past three plans have contributed significantly to the college's strength and quality today. The 2014 strategic plan will continue to drive us forward with key drivers and indicators directing our path ahead.

Our process
Beginning in spring 2013 and regrouping with a fall 2013 kick-off meeting on Oct. 1, SUNY Oswego's 35-member Strategic Planning Advisory Board (see second tab) has been working together to review SUNY Oswego's current strategic plan and to gather data, opinions and insight from diverse campus and community stakeholders to help the college develop its next strategic plan by fall 2014. During the months of November 2013 to January 2014, the Strategic Planning Advisory Board conducted a total of 21 focus groups attended by over 250 individuals representing SUNY Oswego faculty, staff, students, alumni, community members and external partners.  These focus groups provided valuable suggestions and direction for our 2014 strategic plan.

Our Strategic Planning Advisory Board draws from the campus and the community with 35 members reflecting faculty, staff, alumni and community members plus six current SUNY Oswego students who provide input on the direction of our institution.
