Under a new initiative that expanded campus support for students working with faculty on scholarly and creative projects over the summer, $50,000 from donors' gifts to the Oswego College Foundation funded summer student stipends.
Two dozen faculty members applied and received funds to pay students working side by side with them during summer 2010. Their projects spanned disciplines from geology to art to public relations.
This experiment in investing donor gifts directly in student-faculty collaboration was hugely successful: Professors advanced their research and scholarship, students gained valuable experience, and a new layer of intellectual vibrancy enlivened the summertime campus. Watch for it again in 2011.
