These software programs are designed to automate the process of creating web pages.
 HomeSite
- A Win95 shareware home page creator/editor.
- HotDog web page software
- HotDog is one of the most sophisticated shareware software programs available. In addition to several versions of the web page creation software, there are also several other useful web page design tools available from this company. Versions of these products are available for PC and Mac platforms.
- WebImage web page software
- This software product is a relatively easy-to-use web page creation program. Versions are available for both Win 3.1 and Win95.
Backgrounds, Clipart, Animated Graphics, etc.
- Alchemy Mindworks
- Alchemy Mindworks provide a variety of software products that can be used to
create and modify graphics for your pages. Graphics Workshop allows the user to view, manipulate, and manage graphics in a variety of formats. This program allows the viewing of MPEG and Quicktime movies and includes a uudecoder. GIF Construction Set can be used to create and manipulate animated GIFs. Both of these software packages are shareware and are reasonably priced.
- Animation Creations
- A collection of a variety of animated graphics divided into convenient categories. Many of these animations are public domain and may be downloaded and added to your home page.
- Amazing Online Animated Banner Maker
- Create and save an animated banner for your home page using a variety of effects.
- Caboodles of Clipart
- This site contains a variety of clipart images (including some nice animated GIFs)
- Denton's Animated Graphics
- This site contains some of the most interesting animated graphics that we have found on the web. Many of the animated images on the economics department pages (such as those appearing below) were downloaded from this site.
- Irene's World of Backgrounds
- A nice collection of backgrounds.
- Rose's Animated Gif Archive
- One of the larger collections of animated GIFs.
- Texture Land
- An interesting collection of background textures, including many fractal and unusual designs.
- WebFX
- This page allows you to apply a wide variety of transformations to any gif or jpg graphic. You provide the URL at which the graphic is located, select an effect, and the result is displayed in your browser. The resulting graphic file can then be copied to your own web sites.
Web Page Validators
These sites allow you to check the web pages that you have created for syntax errors or nonstandard extensions.
- Web Site Garage
- A wonderful site that provides an overall evaluation of your web page in terms of loading time, spelling and HTML errors, and the proportion of dead links. It also sends a query to Infoseek to count the number of other pages on the internet that are linked to your page.
- W3C HTML Validation Service
- Another html validator service.
