income, employment, and related variables. Income and earnings series are available for alternative levels of
educational attainment, geographical region, race, and gender.
Discount Rates -- historic through present
- This page, provided by the Minneapolis Fed, contains historical discount rate data from 1914 to the present
day.

through 2005 Economic Reports of the President
- The 1995 - 2005 Economic Reports of the President are available at this site (searchable versions are available from 1886-2005).
This report contains a good deal of information on federal and state expenditures and receipts.
Those interested in jumping directly to the data, may go directly to the
Statistical Tables from the 2005 report.

- This site contains data files for the time-series data appearing in Survey of Current Business. (The entire Survey of Current Business is available to STAT-USA subscribers.)
Bureau of Labor Statistics
- This site provides access to a large variety of BLS time-series variables using a variety of form-based search procedures that make it possible to narrow the search efficiently. A wide variety of labor market indicators are available at this site.
County and City Data Book
- This publication contains demographic, educational, crime, wealth, labor force, and other statistics for U.S.
cities and counties.
County and City Data Books (University of Virginia)
- This site, provided by the University of Virginia, makes it possible to download data from the 1988, 1994, and 2000 County and City Data Books.
The Dismal Scientist
- This site contains current and historical data on economic indicators. (Much of this is now only available by subscription.)
Economics Statistics Briefing Room (White House)
- This page provides quick access to current economic indicators provided by a variety of federal agencies.

- This page, provided by Ted Bos of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, contains an extensive list of direct links to economic time series data files. Search capabilities and downloadable excel files are also available at this site.

- This new release of the Federal Reserve Economic Database, provides downloadable Excel files and provides a graphical display

FEDSTATS
- This site, operated by the Federal Interagency Council on Statistical Policy provides statistical information from over 70 U.S. federal agencies. A search facility is available.
Missouri State Census Data Center's collection of 1980, 1990, and 2000 U.S. census data and data tables in Excel, ASCII, and SAS format.
- This site contains a large collection of census summary tables that may be downloaded.
NBER historical macroeconomic series
- A collection of time-series variables for the period predating the system of national income and product accounts.
Geospatial & Statistical Data Center
- This site provides data on a variety of variables at the state, county, and SMSA levels from 1969 to the present.
Stat-USA (U.S. Dept. of Commerce)
- A large collection of data and information. Subscribing individuals and institutions have access to more data.
U.S. Census Bureau
- The Census Bureau's home web site contains information on its programs and links to online sources of
individual or aggregated cenus data. Data on housing starts and many other macroeconomic indicators may
also be found at the Census Bureau site.
U.S. Census
Bureau - Data Ferrett
- This service, provided by the U.S. Census Bureau, makes it possible to create extracts of data from any of
the following data sets:
- Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP)
- Current Polulation Survey (CPS)
- Americal Housing Survey (AHS)
- Consumer Expenditure Survey (CPS)
- Decennial Census Public Use Microdata Samples (PUMS)
After selecting the variables that you wish to extract from these data sets, a downloadable extract file is created
and stored at the Census Bureau's ftp site. The use of this program requires a fair amount of free browser
memory cache. Data files created by this program can be extremely large. Use this system carefully and be
sure to only extract those variables that you require for your analysis.
