Basic
Guidelines for Creating your
Website from the
Philosophy of Assessment
(Exemplary) Assignment Work
(The assignment: You are
using your philosophy of assessment to create a user friendly website that
speaks to various constituencies)
· Think about the information a
parent would like to know about your assessment philosophy and create a page
that is helpful to parents.
· Think about what a student might
need to know about your assessment philosophy and create a page that would be
useful to your students.
· Think about what an administrator
(or maybe another teacher) might want to know about your assessment philosophy
and create a page that would be useful and informational to administrators.
· Make sure that each of the (at
least) three pages connect. Think about where your philosophy should go.
· Make sure you add some graphics.
Make sure you have at least one external LINK (URL).
· Make sure you have a contact
information (use your email if you prefer)
· Make sure the grade level information
is clear
· Use the guidelines provided by
the Candau text to create a user friendly purposeful website.
· Use the ASSURE model to create a
web site to demonstrate the philosophy of assessment—Post your assessment
philosophy too.
|
Analyze the learner |
· Students need to synthesize the
information gained in the assessment course. If they create a web page that
summarizes what they have learned and how they might implement some of these
new ideas, then this project creates a final phase of the learning process |
|
State the objectives |
· Synthesize concepts learned
about assessment during the semester |
|
Select the methods, media and
materials |
· Students will use technology to
demonstrate the synthesis of the objectives. |
Exemplary Assessment
Assignment
(Philosophy of
Assessment in Teaching)
Imagine that you have a
magic looking glass that allows you to see into the classroom of an exemplary
educator. This might be someone that you really know, or it could be a person
from your own imagination. This is an attempt to state your philosophy about
using assessment in your classroom. What do you see? Using a word processor,
write a short description (1-2 pages) of this educator and his/her use of best
practices during a lesson or unit about some content of your own choosing.
Mention a grade level in your paper. Be sure to address the following in your
description:
1. How does this educator
plan for their lessons?
2. How does this educator
assess their students while they are teaching?
3. How does this teacher
evaluate their students?
4. How does this teacher
reflect about their teaching?
5. What materials and
technologies are available in the classroom?
6. How is the classroom
arranged?
7. What kinds of things are
the students doing in the classroom?
8. What is the teacher
doing? What is his/her role?
9. How does this teacher
think about assessment? What instructional techniques are used?
10. How does the technology
support the teaching/learning of the content?
11. What sorts of
assessments of learning are taking place?
12. What makes this teacher
an exemplary educator? What are they doing that makes learning interactive and
follows best practice?
13. You will post this
philosophy of assessment on your web page in addition to the three pages that
speak to the various members of your constituency.
